The following information was released by the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth (DELEG):

Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth Acting Director Andrew S. Levin today announced that Genoa Township in Livingston County has successfully installed five Windspire wind/solar hybrid turbines, completing the townships $94,919 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant project.

“The five Windspires will provide clean energy for the township hall and even generate energy that can be sold back to the utility to benefit Genoas citizens,” said Levin. “Investing in energy-saving projects throughout Michigan boosts the state’s energy efficiency and renewable energy industries, reduces energy costs for communities, and creates jobs.”

In an age of oil spills and mine disasters of epic proportions, it’s a term that’s garnering more and more attention every day. This is good news for Windspire Technologies, a Reno, NV-based company that manufactures wind turbines made in Michigan in an old auto parts plant, employing former auto workers (www.windspireenergy.com).”

The 1.2-kilowatt turbines are expected to provide some of the mall’s electrical needs, said Carlton Cabot, CEO of New York-based Cabot Investment Properties, which owns East Town Mall in Green Bay.

The installation was part of the college’s Earth Day celebration on April 22.

“This looks nothing like a traditional windmill,” says George Anderson, JobsNOW/sustainability coordinator at the college. “In fact, it looks more like a piece of art than a structure that generates energy.”

Our team recently installed 20 Windspire wind turbines at the headquarters of Adobe Systems

While most of the world was enjoying a respite during the week leading up to the new year, our team was hard at work installing 20 Windspire wind turbines at the LEED Platinum certified headquarters of Adobe Systems in San Jose, California.

Windspres Power Adobe Systems

Adobe, a dedicated champion of sustainability, chose the Windspire turbines for their thin profile, beautiful design and silent operation. The turbines are installed on the sixth floor roof of a garage that sits between two larger buildings. The two larger buildings create a wind tunnel effect, providing ample wind resources for the turbines.

Once the installation is fully completed, the energy generated from the Windspires will provide power to electric car charging stations in the garage and to the famous San Jose Semaphore.

The Wind Turbine Lab provides a fresh scientific approach to monitoring the performance of multiple types of wind turbines mounted in turbulent rooftop locations. The lab will provide data on energy output, wind conditions, and turbine efficiency.”
